How Can We Help?
Khan Academy – Multiple subjects under categories: Math by grade; science and engineering, arts and Humanities; Test prep—each of these are followed by a long list of subcategories like biology, history, civics, etc. For students K – 8th grade. Free. (PreK is offered via an app to download—not recommended by me, however). Requires device access.
The math section is great because instructions are given in video tutorials with pictures/visuals. Less bells and whistles than Prodigy but more instructional/opportunities for learning and actual time spent doing math. Starts at grade level but will differentiate according to scoring.
Child’s teacher can sign up for each student then a password is provided to the student; this allows teachers to check students’ progress and check in with student along the way. As an alternative, parent can also set up for their child.
For Language, reading comprehension and vocabulary practice starts for 2nd grade and up and can be found under Test Prep/ELA.
