Buddy Bench

At our October assembly, we talked about community, friendship, kindness and bullying. Together we sang "Lean On Me". We also introduced the Buddy Bench that was donated to our school by Mario.

Please talk to your students about bullying and encourage them to use our new Buddy Bench. Click to learn more about the Buddy Bench and for resources related to school bullying.

Free Food for All!

Operated by our MAC students, the LCMCS Food Pantry is open to all regardless of income. We’re open from 2-7 pm every Friday starting November 8th. Stop by, say hello and check out what we’re doing on Friday! Learn more about our student-run food pantry here.

Our next Free Food Market/Mercado de Alimentos Gratuitos will be @ LCMCS on Friday, November 8th from 2-7 pm. We will have fresh produce and shelf-stable pantry items.  Learn more about our free food market here.

Dinner on us!

Join us, November 8th, for our first LCMCS Community Dinner (and game night) from 5:00-7:00pm. After dinner, we’ll break out the games and enjoy each other’s company. Families are encouraged to bring their favorite (non-electronic) board or card game to share for “game night”.

In partnership with the Oregon Food Bank, this event offers a great opportunity for our community to come together over a sit-down meal. Enjoy dinner on us and a chance to get to know your fellow community members better. The more the merrier. RSVP’s are needed so we can plan to have enough food and seats.

Wake up with the CEC!

The Community Engagement Committee (CEC) is bringing back its monthly Friday Coffee Hour on the 3rd Friday of each month at 8:30am.

On Friday, November 15th our topic will be the school's bully prevention and discipline program. There is an entire process in place to help children learn how to get their needs met in ways that do not harm others. Consistency is key and parents are an important part of this process. We hope to see you there! Coffee, tea and light snacks will be provided.

Explore Art!

The 7th annual LCMCS Explore Art Holiday Gift and Craft Fair will be on Friday, December 6 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. This is an annual event that celebrates student and community artists. We need volunteers to help us plan this event -- click here to sign up!

Explore Art features a variety of student and community performances, delicious food for sale, and hands-on activities. In addition to wonderful adult artisans, we also have student vendors! LCMCS families have first dibs on reserving vendor booths. Learn more here and for a link to the vendor application, which will go out to the general public next week.

Snack Policy Clarification

We're hearing there's a bit of confusion with regard to snacks this year. The kitchen is not preparing a daily snack for students in the K-8 classrooms.  If your child(ren) wants or needs a snack between arriving at school and lunch, please provide this for them each day. They can bring it with their home lunch or in a unique and reusable "snack sack" that they bring back and forth to school.

However, a "back-up" snack is available for those days you might forget or if a student is exceptionally hungry or needs some food to better focus on their work. If you have additional questions or concerns about snack please contact your child's teacher directly.

Creative Expressions

Last Monday & Tuesday, older elementary students culminated their fall biography research with Historical Halloween presentations for their parents and peers.  Click here to read more.

And join Abby Johnson and Elana Bean on their mission to turn trash and recycled goods into usable items and art.  It's called "Upcycling" and it's part of the MAC program's "creative expressions" curriculum.

There's always work to be done at LCMCS and we’re grateful to all of you who generously offer your time and talent! Here are a few of our most pressing volunteer needs. Click on the links below for more information!

Are You Artsy? Please join us in planning Explore Art, our annual holiday gift and craft fair!

Are You Choosy? Plans are underway for our annual auction and we need help procuring the perfect auction items.  No experience necessary! It's easy and we'll teach you how!

Are You Hungry? You can help us make our first community dinner a success. We need help with dinner preparation, serving, and clean up.

Be sure to check our volunteer page regularly for an ongoing list of volunteer needs!
