In this workshop designed for all Administrators, Teachers, and Community Leaders, we will explore in-depth strategies and tools for participants to take a central role in the creation of inclusive, anti-bias organizations. We will look at models and methods for developing mission or vision statements, policies and practices, professional development and parent and community partnerships for organizations striving to put equity and justice at the center of their work.
Katie Kissinger is an educator, author, and activist for social change. She has been teaching children and adults from an anti-bias/anti-oppression perspective for 30 years. She works as an Adjunct College Instructor in the Graduate program at Portland State University as well as at Mt. Hood Community College and Warner Pacific College. Katie is also an education Consultant for social justice. She is the author of the bestselling children’s book “All the Colors We Are: The Story of How We Get Our Skin Color,” and for adults: “Anti-Bias Education in the Early Childhood Classroom: hand in hand, step by step.” Katie is also a Master Trainer in the Oregon Child Care Professional Development Registry.
